Spooner’s looks forward to the future
Spooner’s Woodworks was established in 1980 when Steve Spooner decided to branch out on his own after being employed by a small cabinet shop for several years. Within the first two years, Steve’s wife Val, his brother Tom, and Tom’s wife Rosemary joined the small operation to form a partnership that continues to thrive almost three decades later.
During the first few years, the company focused primarily on fine woodworking for the residential market. Their first opportunity to perform a commercial project was in the early 80’s for a health clinic on the Sycuan Indian Reservation. As more opportunities to compete in the commercial market emerged, Spooner decided to move away from the residential market and focus entirely on commercial woodworking. Around this time, the Spooners enlisted their youngest brother Jim to join the company to complete the core management team that still flourishes today.
Over the last quarter-century, Spooner’s has gradually grown into one of the premier millwork firms in Southern California. This strategy of steady, controlled expansion has allowed Spooner’s to constantly grow in terms of capacity and capability while providing stability and reliability for clients, vendors, suppliers, and employees.
